Tired of overspending on groceries every single month? Looking for creative and simple ways to save at the checkout aisle that don’t involve clipping coupons? Why not try these money making apps that actually give you cash back on your everyday purchases like groceries without time sucking activities like clipping coupons.

Honestly, coupons are a great way to save money on groceries.

In fact, I used to be a bit of an extreme couponer. Most people don’t know this but I actually learned how to coupon watching Ruth Soukup (founder of EliteBloggingAcademy/LivingWellSpendingLess). Many years ago she did great couponing videos on her LivingWellSpendingLess site to teach people how to save money with coupons. This was way before she hit it big! I’ve been following her since the very beginning of her blogging career.

I shared that because I understand the old-school way to coupon and I was one of those crazy ladies who actually bought $200 worth of groceries and got money back in my pocket at the checkout! Yep, totally true!

It was exhilarating and I was quickly addicted to the rush!

The truth is, I was only able to save that kind of money because I put hours into my process each week. It was all consuming! That may not be every couponer’s story but it was mine.

I actually had to break away from it because I had no balance. I started looking for other, more reasonable ways to save and make money and still have a life!

Fast forward a few years and now with smartphones advancing more and more every day, there are tons of ways we can use our smartphones and computers to save lots of money on groceries without carrying around a giant coupon binder. 😉 You may not get paid to shop for your groceries like I did BUT you can save hundreds or even thousands on groceries each year. And that’s a really big deal!

Here’s a list of 7 money making apps, online tools, and virtual services you can use to save tons of money on your groceries each month.

7 – Amazon

Amazon is really taking over the world for sure! But that’s because they work so hard to offer fast and excellent service without paying a premium. And they are committed to innovation to keep doing just that. To sign up for FREE click the image below.

To save time and money on groceries and other pantry items Amazon offers several online grocery shopping and delivery programs. The first is available to Amazon Prime members only. It’s the Amazon Prime Pantry program and it allows you to purchase all your food and pantry items at a discount.

If you’re not an Amazon Prime member… what are you waiting for? There are so many benefits and savings built into the program. Get your FREE trial here!

Amazon also has a great online grocery delivery service Amazon Fresh that’s rolling out in select markets. It’s still not available where I live but I know it’s coming soon because we’re a rather large market. Oh, and it’s also only available to Prime members. Basically, the Fresh service ships unlimited grocery items straight to your home for one $14.99 fee. Plus, there are also online coupons build right into the program. So, you still can use your coupons… no scissors required!

The items are shipped and packed in temperature protected packages so your items will stay cold and fresh even if you’re not able to be home when your food arrives at your door. However, they do have a great scheduling interface that allows you to select exactly when you want your groceries to arrive. Brilliant! No more sitting around all day waiting for your shipments.

I havent tried any of these apps. I just dont know if I could add yet another app to my phone. If you had to pick one, what would it be? I usually only shop at trader joes, costco and sometimes albertsons.

Honestly, I use swagbucks, the only issue I would say is that payments tend to be in gift cards after you’ve earned enough points. Its fun though.

I already use Ibotta and LOVE it, but as a grad student with no income, I’m always looking for ways to save money on food! Thank you!
